The vmware tools upgrade went poorly and now the lanmanserver (server) service is stuck in start_pending. Reboots do not correct it. I am trying to reinstall vmware tools, but the installer is stuck on "removing backup files" (possibly related to the server service being hung??). Has anyone seen this before? Any thoughts on how to fix it?
