I dont see shock value in this.  The same could be said for just about
anything that you have local access to.

In this case, the iPhone is running an OS that Apple is spreading to more
and more of thier device platforms (most recently the Apple TV 2;, which is
widening the interest level of developers and hackers; which is widening its
over-all knowledge base; which in-turn is widening its threat vector.

Compromised devices should call for sweeping password changes, and
the device should be remotely wiped if possible.
