And some other things uninstalling Chrome screwed up:

 

Could no longer click hyperlinks in any program

Could no longer open or download attachments in Outlook (2010 if that
matters)

My cert store got screwed up which really screwed up stuff like Tweetdeck or
any program that did cert revocation checking

 

Even created a new user profile and that new user had the same issues.

 

Tried a repair reinstall of Win7 but that did help.  Wiped the PC and
reloaded.  No problems since and Chrome ain't coming anywhere near me again.
