Sorry I wasn't clear, turning off DEP is my heartache, not the compatibility
piece.

Turning on compatibility mode is a must for some sites...even my Trend Micro
Security Console needs it for IE8/9.

This floated by my desk and I have a big heartache with the workaround. Am I

I was attempting to get my laptop ready for tomorrow's team meeting and I could
not get <someapp> to work with IE8 or IE9RC. I found the steps below on a and
they worked for both IE8 and IE9RC.

"Internet Explorer 8 is not officially supported but there is a workaround that
works very well.

1. Start Internet Explorer and click on Tools -> Internet Options
2. In the Advanced tab, in the settings pane under Security, un-check "Enable
memory protection to help mitigate online attacks".
3. Restart Internet Explorer.
4. Start Quality Center.
5. Click on Tools and click on/check "Compatibility View".
6. Allow the app to complete its installation.
7. You may now log on to and use the app"
