I imagine it went something like this...

"We can save costs if we combine all in-car computing to one processor. Plus, 
it will give us the ability to display engine stats on the CD display."

I seriously doubt anyone came up with:
"What if someone writes a malicious .mp3 file?"

But, if they did, I'm sure it was met with:
"Bah, that's preposterous."
