I think you apologizing to Mr. Hassan is over and above the call of duty, and just illustrates why I recommend Vipre to clients, friends and family. You guys stand behind your product, and own your mistakes. Nothing is perfect, but the people that are behind the product really do make a difference. As a security researcher, he has a greater duty than relying on a single piece of software to make a determination of whether or not something is malware.
