In my opinion Raid 5 on Everything is just wrong. You have to use the appropriate Raid Level for you specific needs. I had a consultant several years ago that said Raid 5 was the absolute best for their application. As a matter of fact they said it was best in all occasions. I then setup two servers one with Raid 5 and another with Raid 10 for a demonstration. I have to say for their application Raid 10, killed Raid 5. They were not allowed to consult for us again, as a matter of fact they continued to say that our test with the same hardware and processors was invalid and Raid 5 was the best in all circumstances. I do like to report that their company is no longer in business, for some reason they lost all of their customers.
