The Amiga was innovative for it's time. The PC world caught up long ago, though -- how long has it been since you bought a video card that didn't have "acceleration", i.e., co-processing capability? And the Amiga OS did IPC by passing pointers to other process's memory spaces, so by design, the OS could not implement memory protection.
