The Amiga was innovative for it's time. The PC world caught up long
ago, though -- how long has it been since you bought a video card that
didn't have "acceleration", i.e., co-processing capability? And the
Amiga OS did IPC by passing pointers to other process's memory spaces,
so by design, the OS could not implement memory protection. Pining
for the Amiga in 2011 is like pining for NetWare: It's nostalgia for
something that was good at the time, but never developed beyond that
time.
