Oh yeah...also if you are going to go the trouble you might just want to implement some asset tracking software and keep track of it there. We use an open source product called GLPI for our customers that find value in asset tracking. And who knows, that might not only solve your problem, but also provide some proactive feather/cap bullet points at review time. Of course, you also have the same issue with the description field...getting your guys to use it.

Thanks!

Thinking of dedicating a white board to the mapping.

I actually have gone registry hunting.

I thought of the "Description" field, and if our help desk folks would remember to put that in and update it, it might be best.

What I'd really like is a nice big orange button. Push it, and the machine starts beeping...

60 machines? I would just use excel or visio or some graphics app to
map out workstation locations. Or add the full-time user name or
location in the description field in AD.

Quick and Dirty Way: If you have admin priviledges on the machines,
browse machine \\machine\c$ and see what users have profiles and
identify full-time user. You could also probably do this by opening
registry remotely and taking a peak.
