Hey all, Anyone here ever encounter a UPS with a remotable power on/off switch?
We've got a new water jet cutting machine which uses a PC to control it. I'd like to put a UPS on the PC for all the usual reasons. Problem is the PC is inside an industrial control enclosure (not easily accessible). When you power down the machine you power down the feed to the PC. If the UPS is left on it will switch to battery. Doing that every night would be bad. So what I'd like would be a more-or-less standard UPS, but with some terminals I can wire up to a push button or toggle switch on the control panel. Said switch would perform the same function as the built-in switch on the UPS. Their procedure in the morning would be to turn on main power, then turn on the UPS. Shutdown would be the reverse. I've seen plenty of UPSes with a remote emergency power off feature, but I don't think that's suitable for this. Those seem to be intended for emergencies, not regular use.
