Hello Stefan,

"my" kernels support media bay and G3. The G3 support is even faster as I updated the G3 patch to enable all speed features of the CPU except the one that would prevent to boot linux on G3 accelerated PB1400s. I also updated the media bay support so that the kernel should not crash anymore when it is booted without the CD module inserted. The PCMCIA support is also updated to enable ejecting cards using "cardctl eject". The eject buttons can be used when installing my patched version of pmud. (When a card is ejected one has to put it into the other slot to have it activated again - and perhaps repeat ejecting and inserting a few times; the PCMCIA driver is a very incomplete thing) With the patched pmud one can also put the PB1400 to sleep - but it will power off on wakeup because I did not yet find out how to control the mediabay/pmu in the right way.

I could compile a kernel for you that includes all the patches and also the drivers that are needed to use the PCMCIA modem. I could also make a bootable ISO CD image for you; I just need to know how much L2 cache your G3 card has got. If you want to have a kernel I need to know what type of kernel image you prefer:
        vmlinux for BootX,
Mach Kernel for MkLinux Bootloader or
        miboot.image for miBoot.

Hello Tobias,

Florian is correct. The kernel is 2.4.28. Does your kernel version (2.4.27) also support the media bay and G3?

Regards
Stefan

I used the 2.4.27 Debian Sarge kernel sources to compile the modules, so
you will only be able to use them if your kernel is the same version.

If he still uses the kernels found on my webpage, it is 2.4.28.

Tobias: I prepared an eMail for you since last weekend, however it isn't finished (some results are missing). Hope to get my hands on the PB again soon. Free time is quite limited these days...
