Hi Damon,

During bootup the kernel searches for any expansion cards that contain a NuBus ROM and prints its content to the console. Using "dmesg" to view the kernel bootup messages you should be able to find out what card you have got - if your card isn't one of those bad ones that don't have a NuBus ROM. The NuBus slots are probed very early in the bootup process so you have to look at the beginning of the output of "dmesg". If your card isn't found during kernel bootup you need to find out the ethernet chipset by looking at the labeling of the chips mounted on the card.

As it seems that there is not yet a driver that supports your card in the kernel you will probably need to use MacsBug in MacOS to find out where in the I/O adress space the registers of the ethernet chipset are mapped.

As there are drivers for nearly every ethernet chipset in the kernel but only a few of them adapted to the macintosh it might be necessary to do this for your card. I can try to do so but if there isn't a driver in the kernel for the chipset of your card I can't help you.

I got Sarge to install on my Performa 6300, but ethernet didn't work.  I am using an internal ethernet card, but I am not sure what interface it uses.  Is there some other driver or piece of software I have to install to get ethernet working?  Ethernet does work in Mac OS just fine, but not in Debian.  But, despite the lack of an Internet connection, I decided I wanted to install GNOME anyway.  So I downloaded it and all dependencies on my Mac OS X computer, tarred them, and download them in Mac OS on my 6300.  I rebooted into Linux, and used HFSUtils to copy the files over.  I installed and started X, and GNOME worked but all the colors were off.  Is there some method to fix the colors in X?

Thanks.
