Hi Raylynn,
I'll send you my patched driver in the next days.
Finding the address space and disassembling a MacOS driver is not very
difficult.
I'm using MacsBug and ResEdit both available from apple. There is also
a disassembling extension for ResEdit available in the web.
With MacsBug finding the address space shouldn't be too difficult. I
could assist you.

I got Sarge to install on my Performa 6300, but ethernet didn't

I am using an internal ethernet card, but I am not sure what
interface
it uses. Is there some other driver or piece of software I have to
install to get ethernet working? Ethernet does work in Mac OS just
fine, but not in Debian. But, despite the lack of an Internet
connection, I decided I wanted to install GNOME anyway. So I
downloaded it and all dependencies on my Mac OS X computer, tarred
them, and download them in Mac OS on my 6300. I rebooted into
Linux,
and used HFSUtils to copy the files over. I installed and started
X,
and GNOME worked but all the colors were off. Is there some method
to
fix the colors in X?
Is your internal card in the CommSlot or PDS Slot? Can you email me
the
output of the dmesg command? Currently most 8390 based cards and the
SMC CommSlot cards are supported. I've been working on getting the
CS8900 and Sonic drivers ported from the m68k Mac port, but my time
is
very limited.
I recently was successful in patching the CS8900 driver to work with
my
Focus EtherLAN card for the internal NuBus expansion slot of the
PowerBook 1400.
The driver is working perfectly.
I already wanted to tell you (Raylynn) of this as you feel responsible
for the NuBus ethernet drivers but as there is probably no one except
me who can use my patched driver I haven't done it yet.
I also had to patch the 8390 driver because it identified my card to
be
8390 based. In fact the 8390 driver doesn't do a real probe and
therefore will identify most cards as 8390 based. What's even worse is
that the driver registers an ethX and doesn't unregister it when it
fails.
So the Focus Powerbook 1400 card uses a CS8900 chip? That's
interesting
as the Focus Powerbook 5300 card uses an SMC chip and is supported by
the SMC driver.
Some of the probing problems are fixed in the m68k tree, I just haven't
updated the PPC version yet. If you sent me your CS8900 work I could
probably finish find time to merge it with what I've been doing. I
have
both PDS and CommSlot CS8900 cards. The PDS card is working, but the
CommSlot card needs work as it doesn't contain a Nubus ROM and I'm
having trouble finding the address space it uses. The Farallon SMC
CommSlot card has a similar problem, no NuBus ROM so I have to find the
correct address space it uses. If someone else could dis-assemble the
Mac drivers and let me know what address space they use it would be
most
helpful.
