Since no one else has answered yet, I will attempt to do so to the best of my knowledge. Be forewarned that it may be possible for me to be 100% wrong about everything. > 1. how to use ouse right clicks, middle clicks > there are only one button :) Use keys to substitute. You may set which keys to use using the sysctl command. > 2. alsa... I have device /dev/dsp, but not /dev/mixer > should I install alsa-tools or something like that to play the music? Off the top of my head, I'm not sure which sound chip is in your machine without looking it up. I would guess it's a chip not yet supported, which means you won't have sound of any kind under Linux for the time being. > 3. apm... is it possible to use apm and some tools like wmbattery to > view abttery charge monitor? is it compiled in? You are referring to support for the PMU chip, and that support is still very flaky. AFAIK, it's still commandline-only. > 4. If you try, you'll most likely end up destroying the connector. What most people do when trying to make a cable like that is: Get a random cable that already has a Mini-DIN 8 at one end, cut it in half, and attach a DB-9 or DB-25 to the exposed wires. The Mac serial port is a form of the RS-422 standard for differential signals, while PC serial ports are the RS-232C standard for single-ended signals. The RS-423 wiring standard is used to convert between the two. It sounds complicated, but it's very easy to make such a cable if you already have half of it. Assuming the PC connector you have is a DB-9, the connections are as follows: PC Mac 2 3 3 5 5 4 and 8 (important) 7 2 8 1 > 6. where to find pc ps/2 mouse to mac mouse adapter schematics? Nowhere. Such an adapter needs microchips to perform protocol conversion. They are rarely manufactured nowadays due to the proliferation of USB. I got one from Belkin a couple of years ago, and they told me they have more of them than they know what to do with, because nobody ever buys them. If you can find a USB card that's PCMCIA (16-bit) instead of CardBus (32-bit), you can use your PS/2 mouse with it through a USB-to-PS/2 adapter. > 7. This question is a little too vague to give a meaningful answer. Have you tried using minicom to see whether a manual connection can be made? It will help if you have experience in dealing with modems from before the days of the Internet. > thanks > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language > that extends applications into web and mobile media.
