you do not seem to want to use Linux on your PB...
But what I found out is that there are versions of the card that are
supported by the IOXperts driver while others aren't:
On their web page I found out the following:
"SMC EZ Connect 11Mbps Wireless PC Card (SMC2632W) (not v2/v3)"
But I also found:
"The IOXperts driver currently requires PC Card Manager 3.0, which is
included in the following PowerBook models:
PowerBook 2400
PowerBook 3400
PowerBook G3 (all models)
PowerBook G4 (all models)
PC Card Manager is not a file on the disk and cannot be updated."
You could try the drivers that are listed as compatible with pre-G3

In Linux the card should work.
I'd recommend to use Debian Linux instead of MacOS - if you do not need
sound or sleep.
I found Internet on the PB1400 in MacOS 9 is very slow because of the
bad memory management in the classic MacOS.
After some time your browser will get unusable and MacOS might even
hang.
Linux is much better when using internet on the PB 1400.
But your PB is a really slow thing; 117 Mhz and most probably no L2
cache - I think there isn't a way to get reasonable speed without
upgrading to a CPU card that contains L2 cache.
