I'm happy to hear that there are still people out there who are involved with this project. I sympathize with those who want to push it forward but are hampered by old kit. You can still get good deals at eBay on functioning PowerBook 1400s. I have numerous parts machines that I use to service my mostly functioning 1400 with a G3 processor and maxed out RAM. Still, with 1mb of video ram, this machine is never going to be much of a web surfer. Probably the 2.4 kernel is just fine for what it's best able to do: run a basic installation (no GUI) of Debian. It's a good machine to learn how to use the Linux command line on and I hope to be more knowledgeable about that some day.
Cheers, and thanks for all the responses. Tom On May 23, 2012, at 4:17 AM, Francis Herne wrote: > Tobias, > Thanks for the quick response, and for working on the thing at all.
