Then you're messing something else up in the info_ structure as the color 
channel set has nothing to do with the image resolution/format.
Have you looked at the example plugins in the NDK?  There's 'AddChannels.cpp' 
which might show you what you need.
And don't forget that if you add a channel to the Iop's output then you need to 
fill it in in the engine() call.
