Hi,

yes I got the Reader to work, but we are not using it, because Nuke gets quite slow with lots of points. Also you cannot adjust the pointsize in the viewer and the poission mesh does not give good results for exterior scans (for example buildings facades). The algorithm seems to be made for closed convex surfaces.... Implementing was relatively straight forward along the lines of the Dev Guide Reader example.

Cheers

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian , Looks like you are working on a similar problem that I have, but obviously making headway. I'm trying to bring in a "ply" file into nuke and then use poissonMesh to build geo for camera projections.
Here is my recent post that nobody responded to Smile
http://forums.thefoundry.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5817
I've been looking at the http://docs.thefoundry.co.uk/nuke/63/ndkdevguide/3d/geo-read-write.html as well to fix my problem, the difference is that i actually have the normals in my point cloud.ply format as well as RGB data
(this is my file structure:XYZ XNYNZN(normals) RGB)
Did you make any progress in writing your custom read geo node?
Does the point cloud show up in the viewport with RGB colored points and can u run the poissonMesh on it?
