A while ago I wrote a script to pack LIDAR scan data into a series of EXR's (where the RGB pixel values were XYZ positions), then I was hoping to meshify the points exactly as you describe (PositionToPoints + PoissonMesh)

..but it seems the geo output by the node (GL point?) does not support normals - tried setting dummy normals with the Normals node, but it made no difference

Couldn't find any way of doing this in Nuke (ended up using MeshLab).. I was half-planning on making similar node which output vertexes, and thinking about it now, writing the points to an .obj file would be easy (but not particularly convenient)

Is there a chance to generate poisson mesh from point cloud made via positionToPoints? I plug in position pass as well as normal pass, but poisson still errors that he needs normals.
