I think I found what I missed. I starred a new project and went to project settings and set it to 2880x1620; which is the resolution of the footage. Normally I do this automatically, but I must've forgotten.
As it is, I am now successfully rendering. Some paint work is required but that's to be expected. Thanks for mentioning bbox. I may not have thought about it otherwise. Thanks all.
