Not sure what you mean. DeepToImage should give you a rgbaz image, depth in z - done.
No (I haven't used in it yonks but that's what it should be doing)?

DepthKeying a deep image is somewhat like rendering a compressed cg image on blue and then chroma keying it though. ;)

You've got more info in the deep data then what you will get out of any conventional z buffer
