Feature request #35101 is to have the ability to create, but not
execute, a Write node.
My hope was to:
Create a Write node, with our existing scripts to automatically
calculate the 'file' path correctly (based on some environment
variables, and dropdowns added to the Write node)
Then, use our render-farm submission script to render the roto,
executing the Nuke setup with our existing nuke_r licenses.
I would guess being able to execute the Write node directly isn't going
to happen, as it would effectively be two free render licenses..

I would argue that there are a few other usability issues with the whole
assist workflow which needs to be discussed. For instance does a roto
artist not need to render out anything?
We are currently planning on creating a roto workflow mostly based on
rendered out exr's on which the assist licenses doesn't help us.

Thanks Frank, I wrote to support and hope to get a concrete answer to
this. Is there a formal bug tracker somewhere? I couldn't seem to find
it on the foundry's support page.

Hi, we are testing out Nuke Assist and ran into problems with our
pipeline.
To save scripts we use a panel that lets the user choose major and
minor versions, specific task names etc. and then saves the script
with the correct name in the correct location.
The problem is that nuke assist will not allow me to set values on the
panel widgets (read only values), and grays out all controls,
including the OK/Cancel button. This leaves our users without any kind
of control over the save parameters.
I understand disabling Write nodes, but does this mean we can't use
custom python panels in assist either? I'm sure that will break a lot
of pipelines...
Thanks!
