Promoters are regions of the DNA sequence that signal the start of a gene
during the process of
transcription, a rst process involved in protein synthesis. The problem of
promoter identi cation is
of major importance within bioinformatics, for two main reasons. First,
identifying promoters is a
signi cant step in the process of detecting genes. Second, promoters are
essential in the regulation
of the expression of genes. As the conditions for a DNA sequence to
function as a promoter are not
known, machine learning methods are suitable to approach this problem
because they can learn useful
descriptions of concepts when given only instances - DNA sequences that are
assumed to contain
underlying but unknown patterns of base pairs (Bocicor, 2013).

Some neural network algorithms were tried but failed. I wonder if CLA can
predict better.
