I'll add my history to the ring as well, and I will try to be brief :)

Going way back to the early 80's, my Dad brought home a TRS-80 one day. My
brother and I used to race home from the bus stop to be the first after
school to get to use it. We would copy programs from Byte magazine into the
computer by hand. In this way, I learned BASIC.

Fast-forward to college, where I was drawn to the arts. I went to art
school, and when I got out, I began a career as a graphic artist. I started
out doing interface design for CD-ROMs and then the Web, where I have
pretty much stayed. Over the years, I have gradually become more and more
technical, as I taught myself the technologies I needed. Nowadays, most of
my time is spent coding - mostly Javascript using Angular.js and node.js,
but I have spent time with other technologies common to the Web, such as
PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc. Despite spending most of my time working with
a text editor rather than a paintbrush, I still consider myself a designer
- code is just another medium.

When it comes to NuPIC, my interests also lie in the human-machine
interface. I like to ask questions such as, "How can we make this easier to
understand and to use?"
