Hi Raf, Thank you for your interest in Cortical.io's Retina code. We are currently working on a new version of the API which is much more streamlined and easier to use, which should be available pretty soon. So stay tuned!
The Retina code itself, I'm sorry to say, is not open source and Retina creation is considered a proprietary asset, but its use is made widely available and easy enough to gain access to. Also, the Fingerprints (SDRs) themselves are created through a custom Cortical.io process and not through NuPIC. I hope that answers some of your questions? Thanks again!
