Well, I would think that the NUT Monitor gui shouldn't have anything to do with
the messages from'upsmon'. And I am also not seeing anything in the SYSLOG .
I am sure that the upsmon binary isrunning as I tried to start it, from a
terminal as su, and it says there is already an instance running.

Hopefully someone else on the list can help with the NUT Monitor GUI part - I
mostly run NUT on servers, so when I SSH in, the message shows up on that
terminal.
Does the wall command work on its own?
Also, I assume that the upsmon binary is running, and if you changed
upsmon.conf, you have restarted since that change.
