There is a bug somewhere in my APC where it drops and reconnects USB at
random. Also during a power failure! I see those in the syslog every
few days. A similar problem on the EcoFlow seems like an odd coincidence.

Not exactly an answer, but a similar situation - I recently switched from a
traditional Tripp-Lite UPS with expansion battery pack to an EcoFlow Delta 3
Max Plus. The 'Plus' models have USB-HID support and recent versions of NUT
know how to talk to them. I have at least 4 times as much runtime now (using a
2kWh EcoFlow unit) and it takes less space and is silent at my load level.
There is currently a firmware bug in the Delta unit which causes it to
disconnect from the USB bus after about two weeks of uptime, but I'm working
with EcoFlow to get that resolved.
