Now our group is mainly concerned with the standard protocols for our system. There have been some draft protocols for metadata harvest and distributed search interface. For the centralized search engine in the bottom layer, we only adopt the libwww of W3C to test our protocol. This system is not very efficient. We also try to find/design better search engine for local network.
The implementation of these protocols in different platforms will publish in the future. Other people can also design the different systems to realize these protocols. For a public distributed search engine, designing generally accepted protocols is the most important issue.

We only have few considerations in metadata upload process. You may also give some other security issues we should pay attention to.
