So, for its performance, and problens solved, I suggest to restore RequestScheduler in the Nuch CVS.
It's not that simple. In order to better support more protocols, formats and metadata, Nutch's architecture has changed substantially To be revived, RequestScheduler would need to be ported to this new architecture. If someone is willing to perform this port and subsequently maintain it, then I will gladly include it.
However I believe that it will be much easier to get Fetcher.java to work reliably in the new architecture, and that the result will be easier to maintain long-term. Obviously, the job is not finished yet. I rewrote its politeness code, and there is a bug in my new implementation. You identified the problem, Stefan located its source, and now we can put a fix together. This is normal, pre-release development.
Before a new release is made I will ensure that it can fetch quickly.
