NutchBean is thread-safe, although creating a NutchBean on every search would become a serious bottleneck, since all the index structures and segments would have to be opened upon every request. Also, you might start getting file not found exceptions because of all the files that would have to be opened simultaneously if multiple requests come in at the same time.
