Someone I respect very much told me this week "if we deploy VxLAN, then my ASM network will need to be converted to Bidir to reduce the amount of (S,G) state the VxLAN control plane is going to create ... per subnet ... sigh ...".
So (*,G) will live on but in Bidir-PIM form.
