Hi Marc and Nabil, In section 3.2.2 of this draft it states:
"Configuration of the uniform TTL model where the outer tunnel TTL is set equal to the inner TTL on ingress NVE and the inner TTL is set to the outer TTL value on egress should be supported." Is this "uniform TTL model" explained in some RFC that can look at? I'm curious to know how it works, particularly what happens with the outer TTL expires and an ICMP is returned to the tunnel source and how traceroute is handled. I fail to see the benefit of this mode when the underlying network routers are not visible to the tenant end systems inside the VNI. It seems like this behavior should be a "should not" and that the TTL within the VNI and within the underlying network should be kept separate. - Larry From: <LASSERRE>, "MARC (MARC)" <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Date: Thursday, May 17, 2012 1:31 AM To: "[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>" <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: [nvo3] New dataplane requirements draft We have just posted a new draft on nvo3 data plane requirements: http://www.ietf.org/id/draft-bitar-lasserre-nvo3-dp-reqs-00.txt We welcome your feedback.
