Summary: higher priority wifi ncus are not retried after a
failure
Classification: Development
Product: nwam
Version: unspecified
Platform: ANY/Generic
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Status Whiteboard: nwam1-build:2009-07-13
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: ON daemon
AssignedTo: nwam-dev at opensolaris.org
ReportedBy: renee.danson at sun.com
QAContact: nwam-dev at opensolaris.org
I've been experimenting with wireless pc cards on my laptop; as a result my
User NCP currently has three phys/ip NCU pairs: one for e1000g0 (priority
group 1), one for wpi0 (priority group 2), and one for pcan0 (priority group
3).
I booted the system *without* the pcan card inserted, and no cable plugged in
for e1000g0. Two bad things happened: the connection attempt on wpi0 failed
(not sure why that happened yet, might be the subject of a separate bug); and
then it moved on to pcan0--which did not exist at the time--and never attempted
a connection on wpi0 again. Every two minutes, a scan was attempted and failed
on pcan0.

Enabling the Automatic location (which does not have pcan0 ncus) restored
order, wpi0 was properly brought up.
