Summary: wireless connection is unstable
Classification: Development
Product: nwam
Version: unspecified
Platform: ANY/Generic
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Status Whiteboard: nwam1-build:2009-06-04
Severity: major
Priority: P3
Component: ON daemon
AssignedTo: nwam-dev at opensolaris.org
ReportedBy: dkenny at opensolaris.org
QAContact: nwam-dev at opensolaris.org
Despite actually getting wireless to come up, it doesn't seem to want to stay
up.
All the time it keeps getting brought down, and I think it's because of some
inconsistency in the aux state as the following shows:
# nwamadm list -x
TYPE PROFILE STATE AUXILARY STATE
ncp User offline conditions for activation are not
met
ncp Automatic online active
ncu:phys myk0 offline conditions for activation are not
met
ncu:ip myk0 offline conditions for activation are not

ncu:phys ath0 online interface or link is up
ncu:ip ath0 offline* waiting for IP address to be
assigned
loc Automatic offline conditions for activation are not
met
loc NoNet online active
loc Legacy offline conditions for activation are not
met
# ifconfig -a dhcp status
ifconfig: lo0: interface is not under DHCP control
Interface State Sent Recv Declined Flags
ath0 BOUND 1 1 0
(Began, Expires, Renew) = (06/05/2009 14:39, 06/06/2009 02:39, 06/05/2009

In the above, the ath0 ip ncu has the aux state that it's waiting for an
address to be assigned - despite this the network is actually accessible, and
as ifconfig dhcp status shows, the device is bound and has a valid lease.
I believe that because of this state, the dhcp timeout is being triggered which
results in the link being brought down and everything re-evaluated.
