The most likely cause of this is that the wireless signal strength has changed,
which means that the icons and the tooltip that signify this have been updated.
Saying that, anything that changes the icon (or potentially does) will cause
the tool-tip to be removed.
I've changed things to avoid updating the signal strength it it's not actually
changed, which at least means the tool-tip remains up for longer.
This has been fixed in SVN.
