This is odd, I'll check out the log files. > Also noted that the switch to Automatic also switched user to location > User - which I had not created - I don't think this location should > exist?. > log files attached, search nwamd.log for SWITCH_TO_USER_PROFILE This location was added for the upgrade case, and is new in RC5. On the first boot with phase 1 bits installed, a User location will be created containing the name service, ipfilter, and ipsec configuration that is in place on the system at that time. If that location includes name service configuration that should not be configured automatically (nis or ldap), the User location will be enabled by the system. I would expect that in your case, the User location was active from the start; the only time a decision is made about activating this location is on the first enable of network/location, and as its activation mode is manual, it will only be disabled by explicit user action. > on switching back to Automatic, all interfaces remain off line. > > trying to restart nwam service nothing happened > svcadm disable nwam - nwam service remains "online*" I suspect this is a side effect of the User location being enabled (meaning that nis is also enabled) and interfaces not being up. I've seen this, and disabling nis/client helps; it seems like the stop method can't run if nis is unhappy. This is on my list of things to investigate... > Lin, > I will have to continue to test on RC4 with RC4 GUI as RC5 with RC4 GUI > is not testable. > > Thanks > Bob > > > Anurag S.
