Hi,
A couple of years ago the AgileNorth monthly meetings ground to a
stop, probably for a multitude of reasons including out-of-town
locations and lack of topic focus. A lot of people have asked us
recently whether the monthly meets might start up again, and several
people raised the idea again at last week's AgileNorth conference.
So this email is to gauge how much interest there might be in starting
an XP Manchester group. The aim of the group will be to discuss,
practice and learn about eXtreme Programming, test-driven development,
kanban, etc. We plan to meet each month after work, somewhere central
in Manchester, and run a mix of evenings involving coding dojos,
lightning talks and discussions.
This is not intended to rival AgileNorth (quite the reverse, I expect
it will *increase* attendance at the AgileNorth conferences). It will
be a monthly meetup, focussing on the practitioner's view of XP/TDD,
so it should complement AgileNorth nicely, both for timing/frequency
and for content.
We've made a google group [1] and already begun discussions about
likely venues. If you like the idea of XP-Manchester, please sign up
to the google group to indicate your interest. If more than say a
dozen people join the list we'll kick off the plans for a first
meeting next month.
Please circulate this email around your organisation and copy to any
lists you think might be relevant.
Cheers,
Kevin & Jim
