not sure what distro your on, rpm based. We do all debian here. I havnt
used nxlogs on linux yet but i can somewhat point you in the direction you
might want to take it.

On my ubuntu distros adm is owning and group owning the syslog. So if its
similar you could add the log user to the adm group and it should be happy.
You might need to chmod it so the users of the group can read the logs.
