A friend sent me this article about a company called Nomadix. They're
looking to enter the "hotspot" market in the private space (hotels),
public space (coffeshops), and home.

The article is here.

* They offer a Java Applet rendition of authorization (instead of
NoCatAuth).
* They manage bandwidth per laptop and allow users to buy more
* They've claim to have something called a Network Service Engine to
provide Dynamic Address Translation. According to the white paper "No
client-side software or changes to the PC's configuration are necessary
in order to get connection in a 'Network Service Engine' environment."

Any comments? Can anyone say whether this Network Service Engine is a
big deal, and if it can be replicated done open-source?

Any other reads on this new entry?
