The factor you are not considering is topography.

In a plain-air situation, mathematically the 200mW should get about twice the range via power, plus the added receiver sensitivity, which takes that up to about 2.5 (roughly).

In an environment that is filled with interference items, the effect may be far more drastic. For instance, in an urban setting I am usually able to pick up your typical cafe AP (say Surf and Sip on Euclid in Berkeley, which most of you unfortnately aren't familiar with) with a 35mW card for maybe 45 feet in the street, and lose it inside most buildings. With the Senao 200mW, I can pick up the AP a good 600+ ft. along the street, and inside most of the buildings on the block, baring heavy interference.

Of course, if you really want range, buy one of the 500mW bi-directional SmartAmps I have laying around, and put it on your AP :)

Cheers,

John
