it might be cooler/better to chat/promote via the actual wireless chat app:
http://www.nycwireless.net/chat the application is location-aware app via a location server (reverse DNS lookup) so the idea is that if you own an AP and submit ur IP/WAN-NAT address then people can see your node in turn w/ the people on ur AP. @ the moment it seems the location server is not writeable (or @ least the API does not list it), id like to create a DDNS proxy ... it would be cool to see the app list you like: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] (somewhere in brooklyn) [EMAIL PROTECTED] etc, etc, etc ... then again im sure u can modify an irc server to do the same (and interact w/ the java app) but it would be much cooler to experience it graphically enhanced ... - jon pgp key: http://www.jonbaer.net/jonbaer.asc fingerprint: F438 A47E C45E 8B27 F68C 1F9B 41DB DB8B 9A0C AF47 ----- Original Message ----- From: "withoutwires" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, July 05, 2003 1:55 PM Subject: [nycwireless] NYCWireless IRC Channel: irc.freenode.net #nycwireless.net > Hello All. > > I always thought it would be cool to be able to have a IRC channel home > for NYCWireless so folks can talk while wireless, or where ever they might > be.
