On Monday, February 28, 2005 at 11 AM to 1 PM, 14th Floor Hearing Room, 250 Broadway, the Committee on Technology in Government will hold entitled Oversight: Franchising of City-owned Poletops for Wireless Communications. Recently, DoITT issued an RFP (http://www.nyc.gov/html/doitt/html/business/poletop_rfp.shtml) for franchises for the installation and use of municipally-owned poletops (i.e., street light poles, traffic light poles and highway sign support poles) to place telecommunications equipment that supports mobile telecommunications services (i.e., wireless communications).
