Betsy and I stopped twice at the Modern Landfill Wetland on Porter-Center Rd in the Town of Lewiston today. I looked thoroughly around noon and we looked briefly again after 5:00 but did not see the ibis. A pair of birders there on our second stop had been there over half an hour without seeing it. I believe there are other nearby wetlands in the landfill property (west side of the road), which is off limits to birders. It is possible that the ibis spends time over there, if it is still in the area. We saw it fly in that direction on Wed. evening and others saw it fly that way the evening before. The last positive sighting that I know of was Wed. evening. There were a fair number of shorebirds around today but the diversity was down. I did not scope them and had one SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, one SEMI. SANDPIPER, and several LESSER YELLOWLEGS AND LEAST SANDPIPERS, in addition to Killdeer and Spotty.
Good birding!
