Presumably the same two juvenile Piping Plovers still in the area (closer to
westernmost Point Lookout jetty) today. One of them is banded -- gray over
blue on the right leg and yellow over white on the left leg. My previous
late date is Sept. 4 (2011, Cupsogue).

Subject: [nysbirds-l] Nickerson Piping Plovers

I passed two juvenile Piping Plovers running around the dunes as I was
leaving Nickerson Beach around 10 this morning. I believe it's a couple of
weeks late for them to still be here. According to NYC Bird Report, the
latest date they were reported at Breezy Point was August 15.
