Had a good start to a New Year of birding with several nice sightings in Brooklyn.
At Coney Island a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and first year GLAUCOUS GULL continue on the Coney Island Creek side of the peninsula. In addition, there was a RED-NECKED GREBE feeding in the rip off of Norton Point. At Green-Wood Cemetery an immature RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was a quick find, only about 50 yards up the road from the main entrance. Here's to a healthy New Year with lots of good birding, Rob http://citybirder.blogspot.com @thecitybirder -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
