Sad news. Tom Ahlf, a veteran Central Park birder (and valued personal friend), passed away this week from an injury. From knowing him for many years, I would describe Tom as warm and witty. His bearing was low-key, but he was a dedicated birder who seldom tired of patrolling the walkways of the Park. We spent a good deal of time with him in theaters, as he was a devotee of drama when not in the field. Our sympathies to Mickey Berger, with whom Tom shared many years.
