Where do you want the user to focus their attention.  The now with 354% more
awesome is where the eye is immediately drawn I would say (I, in fact, find
it quite distracting as my eye is drawn to it all the time).  Great for
promoting your own branding.  If you want people to look at the content then
maybe drop the red background colour back a bit?  Dunno.

Obviously you are always going to have this trouble due to the type and
amount of content but there are so many boxes screaming for my attention on
the front page it is difficult to work out where to look first and what is
or should be important to me as a user.

I should point out that I am viewing the site on an ASUS eeePC so the screen
size is small so maybe that is affecting my impression.  The site looks
great on the small screen BTW.
