Hi There, I've used a lot of templates from Rocket Theme in the past (http://www.rockettheme.com/) for a client. A couple of his sites are: http://www.720.co.nz/ and http://www.gymjunkie.co.nz/ - both using templates from Rocket Theme. They have a great selection, including alternate colours/shades of each - however, they're not free (but in my opinion, they're reasonably priced)
They have a pre-built 'Rocket Template' download for each, which is a full Joomla install with the appropriate theme all ready to goo - so it's pretty easy to get going with them - especially if you're no Joomla Junkie. They also do PHPBB3 templates to match the Joomla themes as well (additional cost) - so you can get a fully integrated look.
