It works now... I just had to add one more line:

# adding line below
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(\.gif)|(\.html)|(\.jpg)|(\.png)|(\.css)|
(\.js)|(\.php)$
RewriteRule !^search-results/view/ http://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI}
[R=301,NC,L]
To make sure that the stylesheets, etc... would also be served as
https IF the page was https.
Brilliant! This works really well now.
