<wee rant>Bite your tongue, Dan. Them's "pistols at dawn"-type aspersions yer castin'. .Net is .Nasty for anyone who values freedom. Open source on top of a proprietary platform is an ugly kludge, suitable only for those who don't know better (and don't know Linux, which I would hope is an ever shrinking minority of people on this list). Building apps on top of expensive and generally inferior technologies is a very unfortunate decision to make on behalf of your customers (even if they suggest it). Even though some of MS' technology is technically ok, it's still a big liability - Silverlight deprecation anyone? If you write apps that depend on proprietary technologies, the whims of their corporate masters (and, in MS' case, increasing desperation - they're losing money hand over fist in every area except their Windows and Office monopolies) to sell or deprecate non-strategic development technologies could render your entire software platform a dead-end orphan overnight, at any time. It's happened before (any MS VB or Cold Fusion or Borland Delphi devs out there?). Don't let it happen to you. An open source development language and FULL STACK is what you (and your customers) want. </wee rant> Dave -- Dave Lane, Egressive Ltd [email protected] m +64212298147 p +6439633733 http://egressive.com Free/OpenSourceSoftware: because to share is human Only use Open Standards - w3.org, Drupal powers communities - drupal.org Effusion Group http://effusiongroup.com Software Patents kill innovation -- NZ PHP Users Group: http://groups.google.com/group/nzphpug To post, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe, send email to [email protected]
